“Once upon a time, the little gypsy princess had dreams within the hellacious concrete jungle. But, dreams would soon turn into nightmares and darkness would be the only way she lived. The tarnished, unlovable girl promised herself she wouldn’t remember the day she was broken, but like all bad things, it would sidle up as hopelessness snaked its way around her heart, killing her slowly.”
Do you ever feel have found a book that embodies all fears in your life? When all conflicts seem further complicated and never-ending? Have you? Believe me, you might change your mind after you read this story. This book gives me the creeps in the good way. Made me think again that the gravest threat in the world wasn’t a ghost, monster or supernatural things, but the human beings. They can hurt you with a smiles, secrets, words and deeds. They have all the mentally ill and irregularities. They could hide their darkest feelings and thoughts behind money and looks. Well, they live among us.
We will meet the most complicated (anti) hero and heroine with unusual personality. They emerged from our nightmare and there is always a reason behind what they’ve done. They look attractive with all powers and the darkest charms. They are a pair who have mutual needs, healing but also destroy each other in the process.
Svetlana aka Lettie is a brokeheart girl. Born from a crack-whore and a cruel father who is also pimp and drug addicts, she underwent harsh and bloody street life. She became a prostitute since teenager and already numb with violence, humiliation, and degradation. She has been through from a customer with gore fetish until gang rapes. There is no hope for her.
Caesar is an enchanting embodiment of the silent angel of death. He is a Spanish, charismatic mature man with complex personality. His profession seems so evil because he manipulate the peace to everyone who needs his services. He kills people with kisses and tenderness.
Whisper to me and I will scream at your soul. Whispers of lies and moaning truths, love is a language in which I am not versed.
Mateo is Caesar’s right hand also nephew. He is so handsome with beautiful body full of tattoos. He is friendly, alluring and attentive but he also a dominant and so sick. He loves Svetlana with all his heart. Unfortunately, he had never love a girl with beating heart and pulse before.
Delicious misery unfolded before the jealous beast. Beating hearts thrashed faster as he prayed for a wicked release.
I usually do not enjoy a book which is written by two authors because they have different style. But Goodbye Man written so beautiful with amazing detail and perfection. Honestly I can’t tell which scene written by each author. The endless conflicts on this book is really crazy. It was hundreds of bombs! Each chapter will give you a mix of horror and fascination. The Goodbye Man will give you fear and goosebumps but take you to another level in the depth of darkness in each characters. The sex contains intense feeling and taboo that will make us shocked and hot in the same times. I thank this duo for the support group as a place for some scene that is too hard to digest.
There is some confusing moment where is there dual or triple POV for a scene. It makes the plot seem slow and back and forth. I prefer multiple POV but still continues move forward. I think some of the extras POV isn’t important and still can be use in main POV with a little twist. The ending is little ambiguous about the fate of Caesar and Svetlana which is can open many possibilities and made me curious about what happens next. Argh, I have to wait for the second book. I will not give much detail about this book. Make sure you’ve read all the warning from the author because trust me, this is not for the faint-hearted and weak stomach.
ARC received from authors for exchange with my honest review
